Homeownership Counseling

Brooklyn Cooperative Federal Credit Union is a certified HUD approved Housing Counseling Agency. Our homeownership counselor provides one-on-one counseling services to help clients become mortgage ready. Anyone is eligible for this free service, including non-credit union members. Through FREE, personalized counseling sessions, the homeownership counselor reviews financial documents, orders credit reports, determines a qualifying price range, and develops a counseling action plan.

We also provide assistance in debt management with individualized preparation of a monthly budget plan. A budget plan will help families determine the best type of home for them, how much down payment they will need to save, and how to find the best mortgage.

Housing counseling assistance is also available to clients after they purchase a home. Post-purchase assistance may include counseling on home maintenance, home safety, homeowners’ insurance, budgeting, and refinancing.
