Fuerza Cooperativa/Cooperative Power Account

The FuerzaC (Cooperative Power) Program helps new Americans gain their financial footing and reap the benefits of integration into the US financial system. 

The FuerzaC account is designed for recent immigrants to the United States as well as residents of low-income communities who want to build financial assets, economic power and achieve justice by accessing services from both Brooklyn Cooperative and its partner organization, Make the Road New York.  Make the Road New York is a like-minded community-based organization and is one of the largest participatory organizations in New York City (with more than 8,00 members), promoting economic justice, equity and opportunity for thousands of immigrants.

 Benefits of the FuerzaC account include:

• Membership in both Brooklyn Cooperative and Make the Road New York
• Legal, housing, workers’ rights, and job placement assistance and resources
• A basic savings account
• A pre-approved $100 loan to pay Make the Road New York dues and help establish or improve your credit
• Access to Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs) and other credit union services, such as personal loans, business loans, checking accounts, credit counseling, and more

Financial services are provided both within the credit union and at Make the Road New York offices via on-site ATMs and Brooklyn Cooperative staff.
