📄 What Do I Need to Bring?

• Unexpired passport (valid for the next 6 months)
• Proof of address (mailed letter or bill)
• If living with an organization, a letter from them as proof

🏦 What Type of Account Will I Open?

We offer savings and checking accounts.

• Access your account immediately
• Online banking app & website access
• Insured up to $250,000 by the federal government

⏱ What Happens During the Appointment?

• Appointment lasts 30–40 minutes
• Review your documents
• Complete ITIN forms
• Prepare IRS submission package
• Open your bank account
• Pay the fee and deposit
• Collect your paperwork

🔒 Is My Information Safe?

Your information is confidential. We do not share information with outside agencies unless required to by a government issued subpoena. The IRS is now required to share ITIN applicant information with the Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement when they make a request.

🛂 What If I Don’t Have a Passport?

Without a passport, you cannot apply for an ITIN through Brooklyn Coop. However, you can still open a bank account.

🧾 Will I Be Able to Pay Taxes?

Use your ITIN to pay taxes during tax season (January – April).
