Mission and History

Brooklyn Cooperative Federal Credit Union is a community credit union serving Central and Eastern Brooklyn. Founded in 2001, we are a certified CDFI (community development financial institution) and a Minority Depository Institution.

Over the past 25 years, the credit union has evolved a sophisticated range of products and services, operates six days a week, and has emerged as a model community development credit union nationwide. Our fair and affordable financial services empower individuals and small businesses towards the goal of building assets and securing their economic future.

The choices we make as consumers, as citizens, as custodians, matter tremendously.  Just as we weigh product features and compare interest rates, we can inquire about the values of the institutions that ask for our support. The Board of Directors of Brooklyn Coop is proud to assert its values in our Statement of Values.
